Title bout at S'pore Fighting C'ship 5
Singaporean professional boxer Muhamad Ridhwan will fight for the World Boxing Association Asia super-featherweight Championship belt at Singapore Fighting Championship 5, which will be held at the Singapore Foochow Association on April 8.
Ridhwan will go up against Indonesia's Waldo Sabu for the title in the main event of the 14-bout fight card.
Singapore's only female professional boxer, Nurshahidah Roslie, is also slated to take on Thailand's Nongoum Por Niramon at the tournament, which will feature 14 fights across various disciplines including mixed martial arts, kickboxing and boxing.
4 wins in 5 for S'pore ice hockey side
Singapore's ice hockey team beat India 9-1 at the IIHF Ice Hockey Women's Challenge Cup of Asia in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
It was the Republic's fourth win in five round robin matches, after beating the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, and losing to New Zealand. They face hosts Thailand today in the final group stage match of the tournament.
Evans eases through Snooker C'ship
Top seed and defending champion Reanne Evans of England continued to cruise through the group round robin stage at the World Women's Snooker Championship at Safra Toa Payoh yesterday.
The 11-time champion beat Suniti Damani of India 5-0. Hong Kong's second seed Ng On Yee beat Ronda Sheldreck of Ireland 5-0.
Gan rewrites U-14 swim record twice
Gan Gan Ching Hwee broke the national Under-14 record for the girls' 400m freestyle twice at yesterday's 48th Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championships (seniors) at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
The 14-year-old clocked 4min 22.76sec in the heats, eclipsing the mark of 4:24.73 set 12 years ago by Quah Ting Wen. In the evening's finals, she smashed the record again, clocking 4:19.61 and making the "A" cut for this year's SEA Games.
